Home Sleep Test
A home sleep test can determine if you suffer from sleep apnea. This very simple diagnostic test allows you to sleep in the comfort of your own home.
At Apnea Health, we use the Embletta diagnostic device, a small device no larger than a blackberry, which is recommended by sleep specialists and used across Quebec. The technology allows us to obtain precise results in order to diagnose sleep apnea.
What we measure:
- Oxygen saturation and HR
- Airflow
- Thoracic effort
- Abdominal effort
- Body position

Here are the easy steps to follow in a home sleep test performed by Apnea Health; we offer on-site consultation with a respirologist:
- Make an appointment with us: the first step is to make an appointment with our team. You can reach us at 514-447-2104 ext. 287 / 450-371-6444 ext. 287 / 450-691-8191 ext. 229 or by fax to 450-371-5315. A medical referral from your physician is required. We can help you with insurance claims, as needed.
- Come to the clinic (Clinique Havre-Sante, Clinique des Trois Lacs, or Clinique Chateauguay) for your scheduled appointment time. Our respiratory therapist will attach a small device and a few sensors to your body to monitor your airflow, pulse, level of oxygen in your blood, your body position and the effort you make in breathing. We will also ask you to fill out a simple questionnaire.
- Return home and follow your regular routine. The device is pre-programmed to record your sleep so you need not do anything. The next day you will return the equipment to our clinic and submit a questionnaire describing your night
- Results in 2 weeks time: a respirologist specializing in sleep disorders will interpret your test to determine if you suffer from sleep apnea and the steps that need to be taken if treatment is required. The results of your test will be sent to your referring physician within two weeks and you will be followed by our respirologist.
